Jack Cowan

Jack began square dancing in the 70’s at the Fun Time Squares new Dancer classes. Jack and his wife, Vickie, danced every Saturday night. One Year after graduation, they served on the Fun Times Squares Board. Jack and Vickie served as Sheriffs, Presidents (multiple terms), and Past Presidents.

Jack’s first experience as a caller was at an amateur caller night. He loved it and from that moment on, he was hooked. In 1984 he became the Caller for The Electric Squares. Jack took the Electric Squares by storm and the club grew from 4 to 12-14 squares. In 1994 Jack began calling for The Rocketeers. He called at the Electric Squares (Fridays) and the Rocketeers (Saturdays) for 6 years. He also called for a kids club - Calicos and Tapping Toes (SLC). In 2000 Jack made a difficult decision and left The Electric Squares, after 16 years.

In 2002 Jack filled in at the Rainbow Squares and eventually became the permanent caller. He has been calling for both the Rocketeers (Saturdays) and Rainbow Squares (Tuesdays) ever since.

Jack is an excellent caller and teacher. He has been calling for More than 20 years and has fulfilled his dream to call and teach square dancing. He still has a larger dream - to call out of state.

Jack is a member of CALLERLAB and is licensed with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) and the BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.)

Jack and Vickie were married on September 25, 1970. They have three children and one granddaughter.
